USM Ultrasonic Motor = ultrasonic motor, successfully commercialized by Canon for the first time in the world. This technology realizes fast and quiet autofocus, and with the advent of "Nano USM," miniaturized, thin, chip-shaped vibrators were developed. Optical viewfinder shooting, all-cross 45-point AF sensor

Equipped with an all-cross 45-point AF sensor that captures a wide range of subjects. The focus points are densely arranged within the viewfinder. All focus points support F5.6 cross-type measurement, both vertical and horizontal, so even subjects at the edge of the frame are not missed. Additionally, up to 27 points support F8 focus measurement, allowing AF with lenses that have an aperture of f/8 when using extenders. AF performance in low-light scenes is also high, with a low luminance limit of EV -3 during viewfinder shooting.

Optical viewfinder shooting, maximum approximately 10 frames per second continuous shooting

Achieves approximately 10 frames per second high-speed continuous shooting during optical viewfinder shooting. Also demonstrates this high-speed continuous shooting performance during servo AF. Suitable for fast-moving subjects such as trains, airplanes, and sports, ensuring you don't miss the shutter chance. Improved mirror drive system, high processing power of DIGIC 8, and faster CMOS sensor readout circuits enable excellent continuous shooting performance.

Shooting conditions vary depending on battery level, temperature, flicker reduction processing, shutter speed, aperture value, subject conditions, brightness, AF operation, lens type, flash use, and camera settings.

Live view shooting, Dual Pixel CMOS AF

AF area covers approximately 88mm wide by 100mm high. Enables high-speed, high-precision AF even when the subject is placed at the corner of the frame. Utilizes the fast processing capability of DIGIC 8 to deliver high subject tracking and focusing accuracy.

AF area coverage is approximately 80% width by 80% height, depending on lens and aspect ratio settings.

Live view shooting, Eye AF

Includes Eye AF that detects the subject's eyes and autofocuses. Supports both during live view and video recording, tracking the eyes of moving subjects (people). For difficult-to-focus subjects with single-point AF, it quickly focuses and continues to auto-focus. To focus on the other eye, tap the eye within the face selection frame or move the AF frame manually with the multi-controller.

When AF mode is set to Spot 1-point AF, 1-point AF, or Zone AF, Eye AF cannot be used. When the distance between the eye and the camera is similar, the eye closer to the center of the screen is selected.

4K 30p EOS Movie
4K 30p video recording

The EOS 90D records 4K UHD video at approximately four times the resolution of Full HD (3840x2160). Frame rates include 30p and 25p. Equipped with various features such as autofocus during recording and electronic image stabilization for video, supporting professional video production. 4K video can be cropped or not cropped. When not cropping, the focal length of the lens is preserved, allowing expression that takes advantage of wide-angle lenses.

Images are output at 4K UHD resolution through image processing. 2 When set to PAL.

4K video frame extraction

Extracts a single frame from 4K video, saving it as a JPEG image of approximately 8.3 million pixels (3840x2160). Useful for checking focus during 4K shooting or as photo material. Resizing or trimming of the extracted image is not possible. Cannot extract frames from Full HD videos. Since it saves a single frame as a still image, the image quality is not equivalent to normal still photos.
