Cannon's first stacked CMOS sensor. The advantage of "stacked" is that pixel and circuit areas can be formed as separate chips. As a result, pixel areas are optimized for high image quality, and circuit areas for high functionality. In RAW burst mode, high-speed continuous shooting at "about 30.0 frames/sec" captures decisive moments without missing them, with high image quality. AF tracking allows shooting at up to about 8.0 frames/sec. In RAW burst mode, including One-Shot AF and pre-shooting, up to about 70 frames.

Records from about 0.5 seconds before pressing the shutter button, called "Pre-shooting." When set to "Pre-shooting" in RAW burst mode, continuous shooting at up to about 30.0 frames/sec is possible from about 0.5 seconds before pressing the shutter.
