The EOS 90D features a roughly 32.5-megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor equipped with Dual Pixel CMOS AF. Developed and manufactured in-house, it surpasses 30 million pixels, achieving high pixel count and fast readout performance. It also incorporates the latest DIGIC 8 image engine, enabling high-speed processing of large data (about 32.5 million pixels) into high-quality images, approximately 11 frames per second live view shooting, fast continuous shooting with AF fixed, noise reduction processing to achieve a standard ISO sensitivity of 25,600, digital lens optimizer during shooting, and 4K video recording with Dual Pixel CMOS AF.

ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 25,600, expandable to 51,200 equivalent.

Can continue shooting even in low light conditions. The standard ISO sensitivity of the EOS 90D is 100-25,600. Even at high sensitivity, images remain clear. DIGIC 8 reduces noise in shadow areas. When expanded to H mode, ISO can be set to 51,200 equivalent.

ISO sensitivity is recommended exposure index for all. During video recording, ISO sensitivity is ISO 100-12,800, H: 25,600 equivalent.

Optical viewfinder with all-cross 45-point AF
All-cross 45-point AF sensor

Equipped with an all-cross 45-point AF sensor capable of capturing a wide range of subjects. AF points are densely arranged across the viewfinder. All AF points support F5.6 cross-type measurement, both vertical and horizontal, ensuring subjects at the edges are not missed. Up to 27 points support F8 cross-type measurement, allowing AF with lenses that have an aperture of f/8 when using extenders. AF performance in low-light scenes is high, with a low-light limit of EV -3 for viewfinder shooting.

Achieves approximately 10 fps high-speed continuous shooting in optical viewfinder shooting. Also demonstrates high-speed continuous shooting during servo AF. Suitable for fast-moving subjects such as trains, airplanes, and sports, ensuring you don't miss the shutter chance. Improved mirror drive system, high processing power of DIGIC 8, and faster CMOS sensor readout circuits enable excellent continuous shooting performance.

Shooting conditions vary depending on battery level, temperature, flicker reduction processing, shutter speed, aperture value, subject conditions, brightness, AF operation, lens type, strobe use, and shooting settings.

The EOS 90D is a digital single-lens reflex camera equipped with a high-performance pentaprism that inherits the thoughts and technology cultivated so far. It features an approximately 100% field of view, about 0.95x magnification, and approximately 28.2° viewing angle, providing a large and easy-to-see viewfinder. The composition decided in the viewfinder completes as a photographic work.

Two multi-controllers positioned

In addition to the conventional multi-controller, a new multi-controller similar to that on the EOS 7D Mark II is also positioned. Allows comfortable operation during both viewfinder and live view shooting. You can customize functions such as AF frame selection, moving the frame with Eye AF, and switching items in the menu screen.

Multi-controller functions cannot be assigned individually.

Live view shooting with Dual Pixel CMOS AF
AF area up to approximately 88mm wide and 100mm high

AF area covers approximately 88mm wide and 100mm high, enabling high-speed, high-precision AF even when subjects are at the edges of the frame. Utilizes the high-speed processing capability of DIGIC 8 to demonstrate excellent subject tracking and AF accuracy.

AF area coverage becomes approximately 80% depending on the lens used and aspect ratio settings.

Eye AF

Features Eye AF that detects and focuses on the subject's eye. Supports both live view and video recording, tracking the eyes of moving subjects (people). For difficult-to-focus subjects with single-point AF, it quickly focuses and continues to auto-focus. To focus on the other eye, tap the eye within the face selection frame or move the AF frame manually with the multi-controller.

When AF mode is set to Spot AF, Single-point AF, or Zone AF, Eye AF cannot be used. When the subject's eye and the camera are at similar distances, the eye closer to the center of the screen is selected.

4K 30p EOS movie
4K 30p video recording

The EOS 90D records 4K UHD (3840×2160) video at approximately four times the resolution of Full HD. Frame rates are 30p and 25p. Equipped with various features such as autofocus and electronic image stabilization during recording to support professional video production. 4K video can be cropped or not cropped. When not cropping, the lens's focal length is preserved, allowing expressions that utilize the wide-angle capabilities of the lens.

4K video frame cropping

Saves a single frame from 4K video as an approximately 8.3-megapixel (3840×2160) JPEG image, which can be used for checking focus during 4K shooting or as a still image. Resizing or trimming of the extracted image is not possible. Cannot extract frames from Full HD videos. Since it saves a single frame as a still image, the image quality is not equivalent to a normal photograph.
