Using this walnut, the final process that determines the quality of the Buddhist altar is finished by domestic craftsmen to maximize the texture (such as grain) of the walnut and to produce a calm color tone.

Shizuoka Prefecture began producing lacquerware during the Edo period, and by the mid-Meiji period, the production of Western-style furniture had started.
Buddhist altars began to be manufactured as a derivative of furniture in the Showa era, and production has been active to this day, similar to furniture.
