ブルックナーの名作「交響曲第8番」、ヤンソンス＆バイエルン放送交響楽団の演奏で登場！1943年生まれ、2018年に75歳となったヤンソンス。1972年のデビュー以来、様々なオーケストラの首席指揮者を歴任し、数多くの録音もリリースしてきました。ドイツ・オーストリア作品とロシア作品を得意としているヤンソンスらしく、バイエルン放送交響楽団とベートーヴェン、ブラームス、ショスタコーヴィチの交響曲全集録音、ロイヤル・コンセルトヘボウ管弦楽団とマーラーの交響曲全集録音がありますが、ブルックナーの全集はありません。ブルックナーの録音は、これまでに、ロイヤル・コンセルトヘボウ管弦楽団との第3,4,6,7,9番、そしてバイエルン放送響とは2007年の第7番があるのみでした。ヤンソンスの指揮で、ブルックナーの最高傑作「第8番」が聴ける日を心待ちにしていた人も多かったのではないでしょうか？ここに満を持して、第8番の演奏が登場いたします。ヤンソンスは1890年稿を使用。全体はおよそ80分と、SACDフォーマットでも1枚に収まるすっきりとしたテンポではありながら、第3楽章アダージョを少し早めにし、第1楽章と第2楽章を比較的ゆったりと演奏することでメリハリを持たせています。マーラー作品のように、各声部を際立たせることに注力するのではなく、宇宙の創造を思わせる法悦的な高揚感がブルックナー、とりわけ第8番の聞かせどころですが、ヤンソンスはこの点でも文句なし。バイエルン放送交響楽団の持てる力を全て発動して、素晴らしい音の伽藍を組み上げています。
