A brass brush used for surface preparation of metal miniatures is a useful tool for achieving a smooth finish while maintaining fine detail.
First, it is ideal for treating thin metal "burrs" that form during casting. A light brushing is all that is needed to remove excess and detail. Also, miniatures that have been stored for a long time may have an oxide film on them, which can be brushed off to bring back the original shine of the metal. In addition, removing oil and hand grime from the manufacturing process improves the paint's adhesion, which in turn improves the paint's finish.
Polishing the surface with the
brush highlights the unevenness and helps to check details. The brass brush is not too hard, so it is also attractive in that it allows for a firm finish without cutting too much metal. Be careful not to use too much force. The trick is to brush in a consistent direction with light pressure to avoid damaging delicate parts.
