Artist Profile
After graduating from the Paris National Conservatory of Music, returned to Japan in 1988, and arranged albums and concerts for a wide range of artists from pop (Masaharu Fukuyama, Ringo Shiina, Masayoshi Yamazaki, etc.) to classical (Yumiko Shimizu, Tōru Takemitsu, etc.).
As a composer, won the Japan Academy Prize for Excellent Music for three films: "Kura" (1996), "Abduction" and "Radio no Jikan" (both 1998).
In TV dramas, worked on "NHK Asadora Suzuran," "HERO," "The King’s Restaurant," NHK Taiga drama "Shinsengumi!," "Nodame Cantabile," "Karei naru Ichizoku," "Hanzawa Naoki," "Shitamachi Rocket," and "Sanada Maru," among others. Also involved in musicals such as "OkePi!" and a joint China-Japan production "Dance Drama Yang Guifei" with Shanghai City Dance Company commissioned by Bunkamura. In April 2008, composed the main theme for TBS's "The World Heritage." In 2010, served as music director for the Shanghai Expo "Japan Pavilion." From April 2011, handled music for NHK Educational TV's "Hook Book Row." In 2015, contributed to "Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN," and from 2018, to the "Doraemon" film series. Also active as a composer across various genres including commercials and game music.
