ブルーレースアゲートの和名は空色縞瑪瑙です。
薄い水色の瑪瑙に縞模様が入ったものをブルーレース（またはブルーレースアゲート）と呼びます。
同じような色あいでも縞模様がないものは「ブルーカルセドニー」と呼ばれています。
瑪瑙（アゲート）と玉髄（カルセドニー）は同じ成分の石で、縞模様があるものを瑪瑙、縞模様がなく半透明の石を玉髄として区別されています。
