Omu-rice is a common sight in anime, especially in scenes filled with romantic vibes. This might be because it's common to write a message or a name in ketchup on the omelette—perfect for those indirect love confessions!

In Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan, Emiya shares his unique recipe for an Extra-Special Soft and Melty Omelet Rice. Archer is also seen preparing Omurice.

Additionally, in the anime film The Garden of Words, Omurice is a special dish when Takao Akizuki and Yukino Yukari enjoy a homemade lunch together.

Making omu-rice might seem a bit tricky at first, but it's actually easier than it looks once you've done it once. Follow these easy beginner steps to make an amazing dish!

  1. Prepare the Fried Rice:
    • Heat a tablespoon of butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onion and carrot, sautéing until they start to soften.
    • Add the chopped chicken, cooking until it's no longer pink.
    • Stir in the green peas, then add the rice. Mix everything well.
    • Pour in the ketchup, stir until everything is evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Make the Omelette:
    • In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
    • Heat some butter or oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
    • Pour in the eggs, swirling to spread them evenly. Let the eggs cook until the edges start setting but the middle is still slightly runny.
  3. Assemble the Omurice:
    • Before the omelette is fully cooked, add half of the fried rice mixture over one half of the omelette.
    • Use a spatula to carefully fold the other half of the omelette over the rice.
    • Carefully slide the omurice onto a plate, seam side down.
  4. Garnish and Serve:
