A great work! Hip-Hop side of Robert Glasper
This album is so cool that you might want to say "You did it!" The fourth album on Blue Note, and his first under the "Robert Glasper Experiment" name, features luxurious guest artists from the hip-hop/R&B scene with whom he has connections, including Erykah Badu, Layla Hathaway, Lady Si, Stokley Williams, Mos Def, and others, resulting in a sound that leans heavily toward hip-hop. Truly, this may be a work only Glasper, who can freely embody jazz and hip-hop, could create.
Highlights include "Afro Blue" featuring Erykah Badu, "Consequences of Jealousy" featuring Michel Ndegeocello, and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" performed solely with experiment instruments, plus 13 tracks including Japan bonus tracks.
