表面の虹色は、再結晶の際に酸素と反応してできた酸化膜によるものです。
不思議な結晶の形と色彩、 玉虫のような光沢や、見る向きによって結晶の雰囲気が異なるのが魅力です。
多彩な色合いは、水面の油膜やシャボン玉と同じ原理で、表面の酸化膜で光が回折することによって起こる発色です。
ビスマスの名前の由来には、ドイツ語の(Weiße Masse 白い塊)といわれています。
色合い、形はランダムになります。
世界に一つだけの金属結晶です。
