Relentlessly "Good Things"
A Commitment to Pursuing the Finest Kabuto
Born in Asakusa, Tokyo in 1954. In 1972, he apprenticed under his father, the second generation Jitsumasa, and in 1983, he succeeded to the name of the third generation Bessho Jitsumasa.
In 1993, he repaired the metal fittings of the long chest stored at Kawagoe Kita-in Temple.
Since then, he has produced and announced numerous works, including the armor of Masanari Ki, the *domaru gusoku* with a helmet featuring three *kuwagata* crests, Tokugawa Ieyasu's "Daikoku Bōto-gata Kabuto," Toyotomi Hideyoshi's "Kuro urushi Maran no Kabuto," and Kuroda Nagamasa's "Kuro Ryōginpaku-oshi no Kabuto."
In 2009, he expanded his activities by meticulously replicating Saito Sanemori's kabuto, a treasure of Tadatasha Shrine in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Even parts such as the helmet bowl and small metal fittings, which are now mainly produced by machines, are all handcrafted by Jitsumasa.
We believe that there is a unique charm that can only be achieved through handcrafting, both in the past and present.
Even slight imperfections, not perfectly straight, add to the authentic feel and handcrafted charm of the kabuto from the time it was used.
We visit museums, examine actual kabuto with our own eyes, and conduct research to understand how they were made before creating our own.
As an armor craftsman, we hold the conviction that we must continue to create "things that satisfy our customers" and "the best things that I can possibly make."
