Paul McCartney & Wings' representative work "Band on the Run" 50th anniversary edition. Includes an unreleased "Underdub" mix for the first time.
The album, with the same tracklist as the original US release, and the "Underdub" mix are included on CD2. A poster using Polaroid photos taken by Linda McCartney is included, printed double-sided and foldable.
Paul McCartney explains the "Underdub" mix as follows:
"This is a version of 'Band on the Run' that no one has ever heard before. Creating a song and adding extra guitar parts is called 'overdubbing.' This version is called 'underdub,' meaning the opposite."
In the "Underdub" mix, you can enjoy the nine famous songs contained in 'Band on the Run' without additional parts like orchestras. This rough mix, previously unreleased, was produced on October 14, 1973, by Jeff Emerick with the help of Peter Swettenham at AIR Studios. As listed below, the track order differs from previous released versions, but it is based on the original analog tapes discovered in MPL's warehouse.
"Band on the Run," which topped the charts, won multiple Grammy Awards, and has been a regular feature in "greatest albums of all time" rankings for decades after its release—this original edition of the hugely successful album was released in December 1973. It features the immortal title track "Band on the Run," the worldwide hit "Jet," the nostalgic "Bluebird," the perennial live favorite "Let Me Roll It," the interestingly changing sound of "Picasso's Last Words," and the climactic "1985," making it undoubtedly Wings' most successful and acclaimed work.
