The series of recordings Glenn Gould made for Sony Classical from 1955 to 1982, covering the period from late monaural to stereo and digital recording, ran parallel to the innovations in recording technology in the American record industry. Stereo recordings, in particular, were captured with a distinctive stereo sound known as "360 Sound," which combined an arrow and a 360, characterized by a sense of left-right spaciousness. The clear playback sound contributed to further enhancing the unique appeal of Gould's performances.
This is the "Glenn Gould Original Sound SA-CD Hybrid Series," which remixes and DSD masters from original analog multi-track masters and releases them as SA-CD hybrids, the highest specification currently available, to reproduce Gould's most popular masterpieces with ultimate sound. The remastering was entrusted to Andreas Meyer, a former Sony Studios engineer who has handled many Gould remasters, and this SA-CD hybrid release is unique to Japan.
