Cable wrap red x white
Around 1955, when the Panhead changed from FL to FLH, a new cable wrap was added to Harley's optional parts.
The new product from 1955 differs from the puffy type of the Knuckle era and features a flat shape with a white middle part.
Cable coil (cable wrap) is a very easy and recommended item for dress-up of vintage Harley or custom vehicles' drum cables and spark plug wires, etc.
However, at that time, genuine Harley cable wraps were already depleted, and
even if they appeared on eBay or similar sites, they were very expensive, over 200 dollars, and are now rarely available.
Even now, replica plated types are available at VTWIN, but
other genuine types that were sold, including
the white-centered two-color type, are almost impossible to obtain.
For years, I have been thinking about how to reproduce the Harley option parts cable wrap, and
finally, I was able to find a place that can produce them through word of mouth, and I have finally managed to start manufacturing.
First, I obtained a reproduction of the original option parts list from that time to accurately understand the part numbers and color combinations.
For actual production, I obtained original black/white scraps from that time to measure the ratio of black and white colors, and
the dimensions have been made slightly larger to be easier to use with modern cable systems.
In the 1957 Harley option catalog,
91694-55 Red/White
91695-55 Blue/White
91696-55 Black/White
91697-55 Green/White
91698-55 Brown/White
a total of 5 colors were available.
For this reproduction, we have prepared the genuine part numbers 91696-55 black/white type and 91694-55 red/white type, which were also available as genuine parts.
The overall width and white ratio are very close to the genuine parts, resulting in a very good finish.
In addition to old drum cables, clutch cables, and spark plug wires,
it can also be used on modern vehicles for brake lines, spark plug wires, etc., and easily wrapped around to add a retro atmosphere.
I am glad to have been able to reproduce an item that has been my long-standing dream, and I hope it will be enjoyed by vintage Harley enthusiasts as well as those enjoying current Harley models.
