Kyō-yaki kiln, operated by the craftsman of 'Kōzaburō Kiln,' has been in operation for over 50 years in Kyoto.Having studied and researched craft arts throughout Japan and the world, they have created the 'Kōzaburō World.'Their unique techniques produce works loved by many.
【Before Use】Soak the items in water for a while, then wipe dry before using for food or drinks. This helps prevent staining and makes cleaning easier.
【Regarding Variations in Products】Each item is handmade individually. Therefore, even with the same design, each piece may vary in weight, size, color tone, and shape. Please enjoy owning a one-of-a-kind item that is truly unique in the world.
【What Kōzaburō Kiln Values Most】- The design is "original."- It embodies the energy found in primitive art, the earliest form of human artistic expression.
Kōzaburō Kiln’s works are highly appreciated by many customers. They say things like:- "It tastes better when drunk from this cup."- "Just having it on the table makes the atmosphere lively and comforting, and it lifts your spirits."
Such reactions motivate us both domestically and internationally. As a practical tableware kiln, we focus on creating:- "Easy to use and durable"- "Powerful, fun, and comforting original designs."
【Production Techniques】(Unique Techniques)Having studied and researched craft arts across Japan and the world, they have developed the 'Kōzaburō World.'
For example:- Color Painting (Iroe)- Unlike typical color painting, which fills in the outlines heavily, Kōzaburō Kiln applies a watercolor-like, delicate wash that appears faint and airy, inspired by painting techniques.
- Underglaze Blue (Sometsuke)- Usually, underglaze blue is painted with cobalt pigment and then glazed and fired.- At Kōzaburō Kiln, the painting is done on top of the glaze before firing.- During firing, the melted glaze allows the cobalt pigment to dissolve into it, resulting in a very soft and refined finish.- Both techniques are highly delicate and difficult, and each piece is a unique work of the current craftsman.
