Formed by 5 male members centered around performer HIRO: MATSU, USA, MAKIDAI, and vocalist SASA. They made their major debut as "J Soul Brothers" in 1999. Later, vocalist SASA left, and in 2001, ATSUSHI and SHUN joined as new vocalists, and the unit name was changed to "EXILE." They established a solid position as a vocal & dance unit with 2 vocalists + 4 performers, and achieved their first million-seller with their 3rd ALBUM "EXILE ENTERTAINMENT." Since then, they have continued to be active not only as EXILE but also with each member pursuing solo activities.
