William Scott (born 1912, active 1913-1989) was a British painter and sculptor. Born in Scotland in 1913, he grew up in Belfast. He studied art at the Belfast College of Art and later at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. During World War II, he served in the British Army, after which he continued his painting career while working as a teacher.
Scott was primarily known for his still life paintings, particularly his works featuring natural objects, especially fruits, tableware, and pottery. He possessed an excellent sense of color and established a style that used simple shapes and colors to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and was awarded the Order of the British Empire. Scott passed away in Britain in 1989, but his works are highly regarded by museums and collectors worldwide.
