This piece first appeared in 2003, when the separation barrier dividing Palestine and Israel was constructed. This barrier stretches 760 km and was painted on its walls. Banksy has this to say about the separation barrier: "Because of this separation barrier, Palestine has become the world's largest open-air prison." In 2005, Banksy revisited Palestine and left nine murals. Incidentally, these murals were painted on the walls of a gas station in Palestine, and they remain there as of 2021.
