The "Rainbow Bridge" dedicated to the northern land's final brave appearance—JR Hokkaido's resort train "North Rainbow Express," which made its last run in spring 2023.
Since its debut in 1992, it has operated as a joyful train across various parts of Hokkaido. The vehicle is based on the Kiha 183 series and was newly manufactured at Naebo Factory, designated as the 5200 series.
It features a dynamic view with a skylight and a high-floor structure, and includes a lounge on the double-decker car, creating a sightseeing-oriented travel experience.

This product records the ride on the "Special Express Niseko-go," which operated in November 2022, capturing the farewell run of the North Rainbow Express.
The North Rainbow Express departs from Naebo Depot and is operated as a ferry to Sapporo. After entering Sapporo, it proceeds along the Hakodate Main Line with full passengers onboard.
It passes by trains such as the 731 series and Kiha 201 series in coordinated operation, and views the Ishikari Bay from the window before arriving at Otaru, a port town.

The Hakodate Main Line from Otaru to Oshamambe is a single-track, non-electrified section also known as the mountain line, beloved by locals. However, due to the extension of the Hokkaido Shinkansen and subsequent management separation, its abolition has been decided.
In heavy rain, the train receives warm welcomes from people along the line at Yoichi and Kutchan, and in Niseko, it powerfully runs through mountainous areas with curves, bridges, and gradients, passing by railway heritage sites near the station.

As the weather gradually improves, the train arrives at Oshamambe, connecting with the Muroran Main Line, and makes a long stop. Afterwards, it runs along the coast with views of Funka Bay while passing by the limited express Hokuto.
It diverges at Mori with the Sunarai Branch Line and at Onuma with the Fujishiro Branch Line, eventually merging with the Hokkaido Shinkansen at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto.
After a journey exceeding 5 hours and 30 minutes, the train arrives in Hakodate.
