Players become prospectors traveling by wagon, searching for gold, and aiming to establish their own "mining kingdom" through competition. To win, it's not enough to just search for gold; it's also important to gain a large number of points through investment by consuming mined resources and to increase influence in towns and mining sites. In this game, resources are acquired through smelting using the power of water. Starting smelting further upstream yields higher scores, but it takes time to utilize the resources. Conversely, starting smelting downstream allows for immediate use of resources, but makes it harder to obtain points. Resources include metals like copper, silver, and gold used to gain victory points, as well as building materials like stone and wood. To gain the most victory points, it is important to smelt the right resources at the right time. In the second edition, the artwork is by Vincent Dutrait, who also worked on "The Search for El Dorado" and "Robinson Crusoe."
