The latest work from one of the most important bands of the 21st century, crossing the boundaries between mainstream and underground, after six years! In the mid-1990s, in Baltimore, friends spontaneously formed the band, which now consists of four members: Avey Tare, Deakin, Panda Bear, and Geologist.
All of their previously released works have been praised as representative of their respective years. They have continually moved between mainstream and underground, constantly exploring new music, and have continued to reign as a band representing the 21st century.
Their latest studio album, titled *TimeSkiffs*, is released by Domino. Since their formation over 20 years ago, they have incorporated experimental approaches from the beginning, while continuing to create classic songs loved across eras, and have had a significant influence on the music scene.
Their sixth studio album, *TimeSkiffs*, their first in six years since *Painting With* (2016), evokes the atmosphere of their early chaotic career and the 2007 release *Strawberry Jam*. The nine tracks included in the album serve as a love letter, a distress signal, aerial observation, relaxed tunes, and messages gathered by four adults now dealing with issues like human relationships and parenting.
These are expressed with the band’s characteristic curious and mysterious sensibility, maintaining a consistent style throughout.
The album features a rich harmony that creates a floating sensation reminiscent of skydiving, mysterious textures that invite decoding, and complex rhythms that make you want to understand their origins. Despite over 20 years of activity, Animal Collective continues to seek new expressions.
*TimeSkiffs* contains anxieties about the future, confusion about the present, as well as sadness, chaos, and lamentation. However, it also embodies the joy of living, with hopes for love, life, nature, and people. The phrase "It's really new every day" from the fourth track, "Strung With Everything," is not an exaggerated thesis but a genuine feeling that emerged naturally, and this can be said to be the core of *TimeSkiffs*.
