Daisuke Mogi, who is not only the principal oboist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra but also known for his collaborations with various artists such as jazz musician Yosuke Yamashita, writer Yasutaka Tsutsui, and manga artist Tomoko Ninomiya ("Nodame Cantabile"), and has also made a name for himself as a conductor and writer. This CD2W, released in 1999 to explore the possibilities of the oboe with a luxurious lineup, has been completely renewed. About the Artist
Daisuke Mogi, Oboe
Completed graduate studies at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts (Oboe major). After serving as the principal oboist of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, he became the principal oboist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra in 1990. He has appeared in numerous music festivals, on television, and on radio, and has released many CDs with his own unique projects. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including jazz musician Yosuke Yamashita, writer Yasutaka Tsutsui, and manga artist Tomoko Ninomiya ("Nodame Cantabile"). He studied oboe under Mizo Maruyama and Gunter Passigny. He is also known for his writing, with numerous books to his name, including "Orchestra Instruments Humanology (Shincho Bunko)". At the age of 50, he re-enrolled in the conducting department at Tokyo University of the Arts, studying under Junichi Hirokami. He is currently active as a conductor.
