The film depicts a rebellion aboard an African slave ship in 1839. His music beautifully and dramatically expresses the depth and dignity of the human experience, as well as suffering and elation. This masterpiece score, which fuses African percussion rhythms and vocal chants with an orchestra, was also nominated for an Academy Award. Now, this masterpiece will be released as a complete edition on 2 CDs. Remastered from the studio masters in high resolution, Disc 1 and Disc 2 expand upon the original 1997 soundtrack album by approximately double, and contain the score in the order it was used in the film, including cues not used in the original soundtrack. Furthermore, Disc 2 includes approximately 50 minutes of bonus tracks, such as original sources, concert arrangements, and alternates, which take a completely different approach from the film.
