On March 5, 1972, Shinji Tanimura and Takao Horiuchi debuted as the duo Alice with the single "Hashitte Oide Koibito yo".In the same year, on May 5, Tohru Yazawa joined, making Alice a trio.Subsequently, they continued live activities, recording 303 performances in 1974 alone, and following the hit "Ima wa Mou Daremo" in 1975, they released a series of hits including "Fuyu no Inazuma," "Namida no Chikai," "Johnny no Komoriuta," "Champion," and "Kurutta Kajitsu".In 1978, they became the first Japanese artist to successfully hold a three-day concert at Nippon Budokan, and in 1981, they performed a concert in Beijing to commemorate the 10th anniversary of normalization of Japan-China diplomatic relations, establishing a great footprint in Japan’s music scene.
In 1987, Alice resumed activities, and even in the 21st century, Alice and Shinji Tanimura’s songs and performances continue to be loved by people of all ages.
On November 17, 2022, to commemorate 50 years of activity, they held "ALICE GREAT 50 (FIFTY)" at Ariake Arena, and released the footage as part of the 50th anniversary project item, "ALICE GREAT 50 BEGINNING 2022 LIVE at TOKYO ARIAKE ARENA." In 2024, Alice will release remastered versions of their original albums, which they have released so far, as packages that will be listened to forever.The seven original albums released during Alice’s Toshiba EMI era and the three albums released from Polystar, each including bonus tracks of singles and versions not included in the original albums at the time, will be re-released as a new edition.
Additionally, live albums of Alice are scheduled to be reissued in September.
