●シカゴを拠点にトリオを中心に活動し、その独特のリズム感とタッチはマイルス・デイヴィスにも影響を与えたことで知られます。加えて、後年、バークリー音楽大学在学中だった無名の上原ひろみの才能にいち早く目を付け、テラークからデビューを実現させました。
●今回再発するのは早世した天才ベース奏者イスラエル・クロスビー在籍時の50年代中盤~60年代前半のトリオ編成を中心とするアルバム。
●10タイトル中4タイトルが日本初CD化。全タイトルが初SHM-CD化となります。
●1961年6月にジャマルがオーナーを務めていたシカゴのクラブ「アルハンブラ」で収録されたライヴ・アルバム。クロード・ソーンヒルの名曲「スノー・フォール」が絶品。
