Hasegawa 1/72 Japan Ground Self-Defense Force AH-1S Cobra Plastic Model E4
The AH-1S Cobra reduces the frontal area of the fuselage to approximately 1/3 of the Iroquois, with the pilot and gunner arranged in tandem. Stabilizer wings are added to both sides of the fuselage to enhance stability during high-speed flight and serve as a platform for mounting missiles, rockets, and other ordnance. The main rotor is a door-hinged rotor, designed to improve the aircraft's speed and maneuverability.
Basic armament includes the Emerson TAT-102 turret mounted on the nose, equipped with either a 7.62mm machine gun or a 20mm cannon. High-precision firing is possible due to the nose turret linked to the shooter's helmet-mounted sight. Additionally, because the aircraft flies relatively low and at lower speeds during attack runs, making it vulnerable to enemy fire, the cockpit is equipped with bulletproof protection.
The engine has been replaced with a Lycoming T53-L-703 turboshaft engine, and the power transmission system has been reinforced to accommodate the increased engine output. This increase in power allows for greater flexibility in armament load. The maximum armament load includes 8 TOW missiles, 38 rockets, a 20mm three-barreled cannon in the nose, and 760 rounds of ammunition.
