[Super Giant Airship Floats Over Lake Kasumigaura]On August 7, 1929, the LZ127, departing from Lakehurst, New Jersey, USA, crossed the Atlantic and arrived at its original base in Friedrichshafen, Germany. It then flew over Siberia and arrived at Lake Kasumigaura in Japan. Its size was comparable to the battleship Yamato floating in the sky. It is said that the town of Lake Kasumigaura was darkened by the shadow of the LZ127. On its return journey, it successfully completed the first non-stop trans-Pacific flight to Los Angeles. After refueling, it returned to Lakehurst. The flight distance was 34,200 km, and the duration was 300 hours and 20 minutes.Actual aircraft data: Length 233m, Diameter 30.5m, Maximum speed 128km/h.
[Model Overview]The first installment in the 1/1000 Zeppelin Series. The framework structure is reproduced with stainless steel etching parts. It is assembled three-dimensionally by fitting the parts together. The five engine cars and gondola (cockpit) are made of white metal, exuding a metallic feel befitting a rigid airship. Includes a stand.During the model's design process, a prototype was brought to the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, Germany, for research. The prototype was checked by museum staff, and reference drawings were also provided. The model was also sold at the museum's shop during a 2000 commemorative event, 100 years after the first flight of the Zeppelin LZ1.
