◆The 1966 QUARTET was born in 2010 with the concept of “The Beatles in classical.” They have challenged The Beatles with works like “Norwegian Wood” and “HELP!” and have gained high praise for their sharp ensemble that is rooted in classical but with a strong rock flavor.
◆In this work, recording finally took place at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in the UK, where The Beatles recorded. They aimed to express “The Beatles that only the 1966 QUARTET can deliver,” without resting on their previous rock-based achievements.
◆The result is a grand work, “Abbey Road Sonata,” inspired by and restructured from The Beatles’ iconic album “Abbey Road,” consisting of four movements. This new album, which features arrangements that incorporate classical styles around The Beatles’ songs rather than mere covers, represents the pinnacle of The Beatles × Classical.
