The Thousand-Armed Kannon is a Buddha who expresses compassionate salvation with many hands.
The formal name of the Thousand-Armed Kannon is Senju Sen'gan Kannon Jizai Bosatsu, and it is a Buddha who possesses the compassion to save all living beings without exception.
As the name suggests, it is called "Great Compassion Kannon" because of its great mercy to find and save people's suffering with its thousand hands and thousand eyes, and it is also called "Lotus King" or "Kannon King" because of the great merit it can attain.

The Thousand-Armed Kannon is also a transformed form of "Kannon Bosatsu."
Kannon Bosatsu is a bodhisattva who "hears the voices of people's suffering and extends a helping hand suited to each person," and it is said to transform into thirty-three forms to listen to all people's suffering and wishes.
Among these, a representative form is called the Six Kannon, and the Thousand-Armed Kannon belongs to one of these six forms.
