Although small, this is a wooden Buddhist statue carefully crafted by artisans.
"Kokū" in Kokuzo Bosatsu means infinite like the vast sky, and "Zō" signifies a treasure house.
It stores infinite wisdom and the merits of good fortune in a treasure house, from which benefits and peace overflow endlessly, saving people.
From this, Kokuzo Bosatsu is considered a Bodhisattva symbolizing boundless wisdom and wealth.
The characteristic "sword" of Kokuzo Bosatsu is proof of intellectual power.
Kokuzo Bosatsu holds a treasure sword (hōken), but the tip of the sword is rounded.
This is said to be a sword symbolizing "wisdom."
Buddhist statues holding a sword can be said to be deeply related to "wisdom."
Also, in one hand, it holds a wish-fulfilling jewel (nyoi hōshu).
Alternatively, it may hold a lotus flower with a wish-fulfilling jewel on it.
The wish-fulfilling jewel is a treasure that grants any wish and is a tool for Kokuzo Bosatsu to help people.
