Saihoji Temple, located in Jo-gi, Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.
The temple's origins trace back to Sadayoshi Taira, who served Kiyomori Taira and Shigemori Taira. After the fall of the Taira clan, he hid in this area and enshrined a statue of Amitabha Buddha for prayers for peace.
For approximately 800 years since its enshrinement, this faith has been passed down to the present day, and the temple is affectionately called "Jogi-san."
Many pilgrims visit the temple, and a five-storied pagoda, a long-held wish of successive chief priests, was built in 1986.
The faith of the people and the aspirations of successive chief priests have continuously flowed through the ages, leading to the present Saihoji Temple.
