This is a hanging scroll for the Shingon sect, called "Shingon Thirteen Buddhas," which is displayed near the Buddhist altar for Obon, Ohigan, and memorial services.
It features the Buddhas who preside over the thirteen main memorial services from the first seven days after death to the thirty-third anniversary, along with Kobo Daishi, the founder of the Shingon sect.

Displaying it near the Buddhist altar or Obon shelf creates a solemn atmosphere and enhances the Obon ambiance.
While it can be displayed for all Buddhist events, it can also be used for daily display to pray for the safety of your family and the prosperity of your household.

This piece is illustrated by Shuichi Horibe, who is responsible for the original artwork, and it is depicted with delicate hand-painting techniques. It also features metal fittings on the scroll ends, which is a characteristic of its authentic specifications. Furthermore, a paulownia wood box for storing the hanging scroll is included, making it convenient for preservation.
