This is a long folding tray made in Japan using Kiso Hinoki cypress wood with straight grain.
Masame (straight grain) refers to the wood grain that appears on the surface when the center of the wood is cut, running parallel to the heartwood.
When offering at the altar, face the side of the plate without joints towards the altar. Recommended for arranging ritual implements in front of the Kamidana.
