【About Obon】
Obon is a traditional event to welcome the spirits of ancestors and close family members who have passed away into this world. It begins with "Mukaebi" (welcoming fire) to receive the spirits and ends with "Okuribi" (sending fire) to send them off.
In households, the Bon lantern is set up as Mukaebi and Okuribi to honor the spirits of ancestors and deceased family members. Since it is the time once a year when ancestors return, do your best to offer hospitality within your means.
