Shinano, the world's largest aircraft carrier built during the Pacific War. Originally planned as the third ship of the Yamato-class battleships, it was converted after the defeat in the Battle of Midway and completed as an aircraft carrier on November 19, 1944. With a waterline length of 266m and a trial displacement of 62,000 tons, it boasted heavy defenses, including powerful side armor inherited from the Yamato, as well as an armored flight deck capable of withstanding direct hits from 500kg bombs. However, while en route to fitting-out work, it was torpedoed by an American submarine and capsized, disappearing off the coast of Shionomisaki without ever participating in combat.

**About the Model:**
This is a 1/700 waterline model of the phantom aircraft carrier Shinano, which disappeared just 10 days after its commissioning. The hull shape, different from that of the Yamato and Musashi, has been newly designed. The molds on the sides of the hull are also precisely reproduced. The hangar below the flight deck is also reproduced, allowing for the storage of aircraft inside. The front and rear elevators can be assembled in either raised or lowered positions. The bridge, the outwardly inclined funnel section, and the steam exhaust pipes are also finished with a sense of three-dimensionality. Powerful anti-aircraft armament, including rocket launchers, is reproduced with precise engraving. A total of 32 aircraft, including Ryusei, are included. Since the aircraft are made of clear plastic, you can achieve an even more realistic finish by leaving the canopies unpainted.
