In Kakegawa, this has been traditionally practiced as an excellent farming method, but due to the significant labor involved, it is rarely practiced nationwide today. It improves soil drainage while also enhancing water retention, revitalizing the soil. It is an excellent farming method for soil cultivation, which is a key factor in determining the deliciousness of new tea.
