〖Product Details〗
This is a silk screen poster titled "The Clarke Nova," created by Frank Kozik in 1996.
Frank Kozik is known for his poster art for numerous musicians, including Nirvana, Melvins, Soundgarden, and Beastie Boys, and is an essential figure in discussing 90s lowbrow art and silk screen culture. His works are now highly collectible art pieces worldwide.
The design boldly features a comical character shedding tears in the center, intersected by knives, with a cross motif in the background. This design, which coexists with cuteness and danger, pop and dark elements, symbolizes Kozik's unique worldview.
The title "The Clarke Nova" was used as an event and band name related to the American alternative/punk scene. This poster served as an announcement for a showcase held on August 18, 1996, at the San Francisco live house "Bottom of the Hill."
The poster's main appeal lies in Kozik's signature thick outlines and vivid color scheme reminiscent of fluorescent colors. The coloring, using turquoise blue, neon orange, pink, yellow, and black, becomes even more striking when exposed to blacklight.
It pairs exceptionally well with interiors in living rooms, music rooms, shops, and garages. Combining it with mid-century furniture, industrial items, neon signs, or records can enhance a 90s underground atmosphere.
If drilling holes in walls is not feasible, such as in rental properties, it can still be displayed attractively by simply leaning it against a shelf or on the floor.
The poster is framed with an acrylic cover and an aluminum frame.
