Product Introduction
The second ship of the Agano class, "Noshiro," built 20 years after the 5500-ton light cruiser, is now available as a single ship set.
This product is an unpainted kit that requires assembly and painting.
It is a 1/700 scale model of the sea, excluding the ship's bottom.
The product uses molds from the conventional (Tokuseries) series.
The light cruiser "Noshiro" was laid down in September 1941, just before the outbreak of war, as the second ship of the Agano class, and completed in June 1943, in the middle of the war.
While her sister ships were built at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal, Noshiro was built at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal.
The predecessor to the Agano class was the Sendai class, and with a 20-year interval, the Agano class became a ship with a modern appearance.
The ship, which was larger with a standard displacement of 6,652 tons and a length of 172 meters, was equipped with three 15 cm twin-gun turrets as its main battery and two newly developed long 8 cm twin high-angle guns.
After completion, Noshiro immediately became the flagship of the Second Destroyer Squadron and was engaged in transport and escort operations in the central Pacific. In June 1944, she participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea.
Around this time, her armament was strengthened with the addition of machine guns and some radar equipment.
In October 1944, she accompanied the main force, including Yamato and Musashi, in Operation Sho-Ichi (Battle of Leyte Gulf).
She received direct hits in an encounter with US escort carriers.
