About the artist

Hirokazu Sato

Born in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. Graduated from Hirosaki University Faculty of Education, Department of Music. Studied composition under Ichio Shima. Moved to Tokyo and studied guitar under Hidenori Watanabe.
In 1990, won 2nd place at the 21st Newcomer Award Performance (now Classical Guitar Competition). In the same year, his composition "Rondo for Piano" won 3rd place in the PTMA Young Pianist Competition B-class division. Subsequently, studied guitar under Shiki Nagashima. Made his debut recital at the Kammerzaal Tachikawa in 1991. From this time, he published numerous guitar compositions and arrangements in the magazine "Modern Guitar".
His collections include "Hirokazu Sato Works Collection ~ Autumn Sonatine," "12 Songs of Seasons," "20-year-old Guitar Quartet," "G. Fauré / Dory (arranged)," "Old Songs ~ 22 Chapters for Guitar (arranged)," "Classical Christmas for Guitar Solo ~ 21 Christmas Songs (arranged)," "Carcassi / Original Edition 25 Etudes for Guitar Op.60 (edited)," "Interlude of the Wind ~ 48 Gentle Pieces," "Hirokazu Sato Works Collection ~ Beyond the Blue Sky," and others, published by Genda Guitar Publishing.
Since 2009, has held a total of 6 retrospectives of his works titled "Hirokazu Sato Works Exhibition." Released CDs include "Hirokazu Sato Works Collection 1 ~ Autumn Sonatine & Simple Songs" and "Hirokazu Sato Works Collection 2 ~ 12 Songs of Seasons," along with many DVDs and sheet music. His motto for composing guitar music is "easy to play, easy to understand, melodic." He passed away on December 22, 2016, at the age of 50.

Yoshinobu Hara

Studied guitar under Hiroshi Okuda, K.H. Betner, and Tadashi Sasaki. In 1973, composed, performed, and recorded music for the LP "Singing of the Malay Maiden Maniana" narrated by Shima Iwao, with a single guitar.
After debuting with a recital at the Dai-ichi Life Hall in the same year, he studied abroad in Germany. Graduated top of his class from the Cologne University of Music in Germany in 1976, and became a full-time lecturer at the Bremen Conservatory of Music. In 1979, obtained the national performer qualification and returned to Japan, beginning performance activities nationwide.
He has served as a lecturer at Nihon University College of Art, Kumamoto University Faculty of Education, and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, String Instruments Course, and was a professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music from 2008 to 2016, currently serving as a visiting professor.
He has performed recitals at major halls in Tokyo and nearby areas, including Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Small Hall, Suntory Hall Blue Rose, Hamarikyu Asahi Hall, Yamaha Hall, and Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall Small Hall.
Through over 40 years of teaching, he has produced many talented guitarists and maintains an unwavering position as an instructor.

Daisuke Suzuki

Graduated from Waseda University Faculty of Letters. 3rd place at the Maria Canals International Guitar Competition in 1992, winner of the Alessandria City International Guitar Competition in 1993. Studied abroad in Austria as a dispatch trainee of the Agency for Cultural Affairs from 1994. Awarded the 10th Idemitsu Music Award in 2000. Received the New Artist Award from the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2006.
He has premiered many new works by composers such as Toru Takemitsu, Shinichiro Ikebe, Norio Sarutani, Akira Nishimura, Nao Ijishi, and Hikaru Hayashi, and has performed numerous concerts at art museums such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, the National Art Center, and the Bridgestone Museum of Art.
His albums featuring innovative repertoire and fresh interpretations have received high praise, including the CD "Catalonia Hymn ~ Song of Birds / Forbidden Play" which won the 2005 Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival Excellence Award (Record Division).
He is a visiting professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.

Yasushi Ohagi

Studied at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and the Paris Conservatory of Music. Awarded 2nd place and a special jury prize at the Havana International Guitar Competition. Has released 14 CDs and 2 DVDs to date.
Participated as a soloist in festivals such as the Moscow Guitar Virtuoso Festival, Taiwan International Guitar Festival, Colombia's Concierto Guitar Festival, and Japan-Cuba Diplomatic Anniversary Concerts. In 2015, performed in Berlioz's opera "Beatrice and Benedict" as part of the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival with the Saito Kinen Orchestra.
Recipient of the 6th Hotel Okura Music Award and the 18th Idemitsu Music Award. He is a visiting professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
