Thoroughly early music instruments exploring contemporary and modern lively compositions】 During the 16th century, a turning point in French culture, Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585), one of the Seven Stars Poets (Pleiad School), demonstrated through numerous masterpieces that elegant poetry could be recited in French rather than Latin, leaving a mark on history. His works attracted not only contemporary musicians pursuing polyphonic musical craftsmanship but also many composers after the 19th century when Europeans rediscovered the charm of past cultural heritage, and they set his poetry to music. The historic French early music ensemble Dous Mémoire, in honor of the 500th anniversary of the poet's birth, collaborated with renowned singer Marc Moiyon, who can express a wide range with meticulous detail, to produce a two-disc album of vocal works based on Ronsard's poetry. Dous Mémoire performs polyphonic chansons by composers active during the poet's lifetime, while Moiyon performs songs from the 19th century onward. On Disc 1, poems recited alongside lute bowing are followed by examples based on the same poem by multiple composers. On Disc 2, from mid-19th century examples by Gounod and Gouvy to those from the time of Ravel and the French Six, listeners can compare the variety of piano-accompanied songs. Moiyon's reliable accompanist Anne Le Bozec plays a 1905 Pleyel piano, known for its transparency and nuanced beautiful tone. Recording engineer Jean-Marc Renaud, with outstanding experience in medieval and piano music, vividly captures the character of various early instruments along with the singing. The booklet, featuring color images of famous paintings from the 16th and 19th centuries, also satisfies literary interests (French, English, German).
