Naked Rallizes (LES RALLIZES DENUDES) / Jittoku '76 (CD)
A recording of the performance at Jittoku in Kyoto in 1976 has been released on both LP and CD!
At that time in 1976, Naked Rallizes consisted of Takashi Mizutani (Vo/G), along with Takeshi Nakamura (G), who was also a founding member, Hiroshi Narazaki (Ba) — known as Hiroshi "Hiroshi" from the Police and Daitenryu — who had participated in those bands, and Sammy Toshiro Mikami (Dr), a former staff member of the live house OZ in Kichijoji and a member of the OZ Band.
Many Rallizes researchers agree that "the Rallizes during this period were at their peak."
In fact, in 1976, under the leadership of Akira Ma, they recorded music with an eye toward a contract with Virgin Records in the UK. Meanwhile, they actively performed live nearly once a month at the recently opened Shibuya Attic, which had opened in 1975.
They also participated in the outdoor festival "3rd Sunset Festival" held in Ishikawa Prefecture (August 3–4), continuing from the previous year. During this tour, they were booked for a two-night consecutive performance at Jittoku in Kyoto on July 29 and 30, which was arranged to coincide with their trip to Hokuriku.
Jittoku, opened in 1973, is known for its unique interior, converted from a sake brewery, and is a long-established live house representing Kyoto. Although Naked Rallizes had performed in Kyoto before, their shows in their hometown always drew many passionate fans.
The discovered tape is from the performance at Jittoku on July 30, recorded with a built-in microphone of a Marantz portable cassette recorder.
Unfortunately, the recording cuts off during the performance of "The Last One," the final song. However, producer Masaki Kubota, who recognized the potential of this raw recording, used his skills to revive its vivid dynamism and compiled it into an album.
● The analog record includes a bonus track (guitar solo).
● Linernotes are contributed by Mr. Waki, who was a staff member of Naked Rallizes at the time and also attended the Jittoku performance.
● The artwork features photos taken by Nakamura Takeshi (now active as a photographer Nakamura?) during a revisit to Jittoku in 2025, where he served as a side guitarist for this performance.
*This release is a CD.
