**About Wakasa-nuri**Wakasa-nuri originated over 300 years ago from a lacquer craftsman who served the former lord of the region. Since then, it has undergone numerous studies and improvements.
The process involves using eggshell and mother-of-pearl to create patterns, applying colored lacquer, covering it with gold leaf, layering more lacquer on top, then revealing the design through charcoal polishing and finishing with rubbed lacquer and buffing.
It is primarily used to create elegant and durable lacquerware such as chopsticks, chopstick cases, and trays, and is now cherished as a representative style of lacquered chopsticks. (Excerpt from manufacturer's product description)
