The protagonist, Shinsuke Kuwano (Hiroshi Abe), is a skilled architect. He is well-regarded for his abilities, has plenty of work, and earns more than the average person. However, his personality is eccentric, self-righteous, and cynical.
Although he possesses a charm that attracts women, when they actually start dating him, they become fed up with his character and quickly leave him.
As this happens repeatedly, Shinsuke comes to believe that romance and marriage are unnecessary. He uses his inherent logic to build a theoretical defense for the meaninglessness of romance and marriage, and whenever the opportunity arises, he reiterates his claims. As a result, fewer and fewer women are drawn to him.
One day, Shinsuke meets a woman named Natsumi Hayasaka (Yui Natsukawa).
Hayasaka, a doctor, neither immediately denies nor affirms Shinsuke, but confronts him calmly.
