This is a re-release that all jazz fans have been waiting for! This is an extremely valuable recording by Akiyoshi, who made her triumphant return to Japan in 1961 and recorded with her trio for "Asahi Sonorama." Akiyoshi, who was the first post-war Japanese jazz musician to study in America, made a triumphant return to Japan in 1961 after a five-year absence. A large number of media and fans gathered at Haneda Airport to enthusiastically welcome her return, making it a matter of national interest. Although her stay was short, her performance showed remarkable growth honed in America, providing great inspiration to the Japanese jazz scene. Recorded as a parting gift at the end of her stay was this "Toshiko Akiyoshi Recital." At the time, it was only released as a "Sonosheet" by "Asahi Sonorama" and was a "phantom recording" not even listed in her official discography. It was simultaneously released on CD and record in 1988, becoming widely known to jazz fans, but it went out of print and became a rare item commanding high prices on online auctions and the used market.
