Ryo Fukui Trio / Live at Beidoro '77 (CD)
Ryo Fukui, the legendary 1977 recording, completely unreleased live sound source unearthed! This is a completely unreleased live sound source recorded on June 8, 1977. The recording was made at a live house in Sapporo by Masataka Ito, the producer who worked on Fukui's "Scenery" and "Mellow Dream." It is indeed the performance of the Fukui Trio from that period, but at the same time, it possesses an overwhelming energy and freshness not found in studio recordings, making it incredibly exciting.
The intense 16-minute "Mellow Dream" goes without saying, but the dynamic "Speak Low," the sensuously spun "Body & Soul," the fast-paced "Love For Sale," the profound "Mr. P.C.," and the overflowing "My Foolish Heart" are all overwhelming performances as if in a fever. At the time, excerpts from this live recording were recognized at Trio Records headquarters, leading to the production of the second album, "Mellow Dream." This is a precious sound source in every sense of the word.
