A human drama that questions life and the bonds between people.
Manami Hayashida (Maki Horikita), the eldest daughter of the Hayashida family, who works as an assistant at an editing production company, is one day ordered by her admired boss, Kuniki (Keiko Toda), to work on a special feature about advanced maternal age pregnancies.
Amidst this, Manami's father, Shinpei (Yuji Miyake), suddenly passes away from an attack.
Furthermore, her mother, Aiko (Misako Tanaka), realizes she is unexpectedly pregnant and struggles alone, unable to tell Manami and her siblings. While her mother decides to give birth, her sisters, worried about the risks of an advanced maternal age pregnancy and the changes to their lives, oppose the decision.
However, the second son, Koji, a university student, eventually agrees, and Manami also gradually begins to accept her mother's resolve. The eldest son, Taichi (Tadayoshi Okura), a designer, and the second daughter, Miko (Seika Taketomi), a high school student, also face a new life while grappling with their relationships with family and others, and their own ways of living...
