The release of Mai Fukagawa's photo book has been decided. The photos were taken by photographer Kotori Kawashima.
The shooting locations are Ishigaki Island and Taketomi Island.
Activities include playing by the seaside, frolicking with dolphins, relaxing in an old private house that feels like grandma’s home, making shisa (guardian lion-dog statues), and enjoying local foods such as soki soba and yushi tofu.
This is a book that makes you feel as if you are traveling with Mai Fukagawa on Ishigaki Island, wrapped in happiness.
【Mai Fukagawa's Comment】
This photo book was a project that started about three years ago. The shooting dates were roughly decided, and I was finally looking forward to it! However, due to the serious situation with the coronavirus, and with no clear outlook, the project was postponed indefinitely.
But as time passed, I gathered again with the trusted team, and we were able to successfully bring it to completion. I am truly happy to finally be able to share this with everyone.
This time, the photos were taken by photographer Kotori Kawashima on Ishigaki Island and Taketomi Island, as if on a journey.
The theme was a "5-day, 4-night trip to Okinawa," and I coordinated my clothes, bags, and shoes to capture the gentle time in Okinawa and my current, authentic self as I have entered my thirties.
When I saw the finished photos, I was surprised to see my face in a way I had never seen before, taken by Kawashima-san. Both my shy and outgoing sides are reflected.
