Artist Profile
Debuted on June 25, 1978, with the single "Katteni Shindobaddo" (Take It Easy, Sindbad).
In 1979, their huge hit "Itoshi no Ellie" (Beloved Ellie) established them as a leading rock band in Japan, earning both fame and recognition. Since then, they have continued to produce numerous record-breaking and memorable works, constantly leading the music scene with new approaches alongside the times, becoming a national rock band.
In January 2000, their release "TSUNAMI" achieved their highest sales to date and won the 42nd Japan Record Award.
In August 2008, they accomplished the unprecedented four-day "Midsummer Great Appreciation Festival" at Nissan Stadium to celebrate their 30th anniversary, after which they entered an indefinite hiatus.
In 2013, marking their 35th debut anniversary, they broke a five-year silence with a single release and outdoor stadium tour, making a major comeback.
In March 2015, they released the album "Budou" (Grapes), their first in about 10 years, and held a nationwide tour including five major domes and an additional performance at Nippon Budokan for the first time in 22 years, drawing approximately 500,000 fans.
In 2018, on June 25, they celebrated their 40th anniversary debut with a "Kickoff Live 2018: Chotto Ecchi na La La La no Ojisan" at NHK Hall.
On August 1, they will release the premium album "Umi no Oh, Yeah!!" featuring numerous classic songs and three new tracks.
Furthermore, in spring 2019, they are scheduled to undertake a nationwide dome and arena tour.
This is a two-disc best album released to commemorate their 20th anniversary debut.
Starting with their debut song on DISC 1<1>, it includes nearly all popular singles and live tracks arranged roughly in chronological order, making it an enjoyable introduction to Southern All Stars.
