April 2, 2013, marks the long-awaited opening of the fifth generation Kabuki-za Theatre.
With the exterior of the theater nearing completion and preparations for stage performances progressing steadily, we are launching the next installment of the "Kabuki Meisaku Sen" DVD series to coincide with this occasion. All 17 titles are must-see performances!
As before, we will deliver numerous acclaimed performances by rare and legendary actors, perhaps even surpassing previous offerings! As a joint project between Shochiku Co., Ltd. and NHK Enterprises, the "Kabuki Meisaku Sen" series, which began in 2004, will release all 17 volumes of its third phase sequentially from April to July.
Featuring many renowned actors who brilliantly adorned the Showa and Heisei eras of Kabuki, including Kanzaburo Nakamura, who passed away suddenly at the end of last year!
